Pay It Forward
Here's how it works..... the first 3 people to leave a comment on this post will receive a hand made gift from me during this year (it may not be the greatest because we all know I'm not that crafty). When and what will be a surprise. BUT, in order for you to leave a comment on my blog, you have to post this on your blog FIRST. (That means that sometime during this year you will send a gift to 3 people as well, not necessarily hand made) Get it? Ready, set, pay it forward!
PS Pay It Forward is a great movie...go watch it! NOW!

A Momentous Occasion
Here's to the birthday girl...My mom's 50th birthday was last Wednesday and I am now just posting about it. Sorry! My mom and dad invited me and Nic up to their house on Wednesday night for the festivities. My mom made her own birthday dinner and boy was it delicious: steak, ginormous shrimp, yummy salad, and bread with roasted garlic. It was so good! We offered to help or go out, but she wanted to be in control. Stewart women. haha
Mom's first gift was waiting on the table and was told that she had to open it before dinner. The end result are the following 2 pictures below...Next we opened presents and mom loved every one of them. My dad is so sweet - putting an individualized card on each gift. We stopped in the middle for a short little break for some birthday Brazil Lime Cake = the best cake in the world! Actually, it ranks up there with my mom's homemade angel food cake. Dang, she's a good cook! The last presents were a book made by all of the kids, a mother's ring (all 5 birthstones in a white gold band), and a trip to NYC for the US Open. Can you imagine?! I offered to be there personalized photographer when they go to NYC, but I don't think they're buying it. I guess I will stay home and watch their house with Nic. Kidding! Sounds great to me! All in all it was a great night! We had so much fun laughing and I think 50 suits my mother great! Thank you mom for letting us be a part of this momentous occasion and thank you to the both of you for letting me and Nic celebrate with you!
I think she should be a model for the new magazine: 50 and Still Looking Good!

Heart Day
You are all probably wondering what I did for Nic for Valentine's Day - I want you to know that it turned out really well. It was a "sweet surprise" (see previous post) - dessert surprises all around.
It started on Friday morning when I went to his work before he was there to leave him a goblet full of ice cream and a little poem. He went to work and was surprised to see some ice cream waiting for him. I lied to him and told him I was going to work out. Ha! Tricky I am. Later that night he found some lovely cookies waiting for him and another poem. Saturday morning he awoke to Oreo truffles at his bedside and a poem. Later that night, we arrived home from our ward Valentine party and a piece of chocolate cake was awaiting him. All of the desserts were supposed to be building up to the most decadent and final dessert: me. haha The last dessert even came with whip cream. hehe I know it was kind of a cheesy gift, but he enjoyed it and we are still benefiting from all of the desserts.
Saturday was spent shopping - that was his gift to me. Yay! He got me a way cute jacket, jeans, and dang cute heels. I'm pretty sure his favorite part was the jeans (you can ask him why he loves the jeans). We then spent the afternoon lounging around in sweats watching Moulin Rouge: a love story. Presh. Later that night we went out to a delicious dinner with my mom and dad at Red's Roadhouse. Thank you mom and dad for taking us out! We went to our ward valentine party, only for a little while. We are newlyweds and had better plans (wink wink). We actually went home and watched Nights in Rodanthe: another love story. Nic and I love it - it makes us cry. I might have bought him a little game (one I am not going in detail about it). We ended the night with a late night dessert and the game. Ok so I couldn't just give him desserts for Valentine's Day...Molly helped me decorate a frame with this love recipe. Thank you Molly for letting me use your resources! The love recipe is one that this lady I worked with gave to me at my bridal shower. The frame turned out great and it's hanging in our kitchen. Valentine's Day is much better when you have a spouse to celebrate it with, but let's be honest - Valentine's Day is everyday in the Phair family.

V-Day
I don't mean to brag, but I have had Nic's Valentine's present decided on for about a week and a half now. I decided last week what I wanted to do and it's all planned out. It's going to be a sweet surprise! I hope he likes it!
