RoCkY pOiNt

This past Saturday, a gentleman from our ward took us fishing in Rocky Point. We met him at 530 (yes in the am). Beautiful.
Good morning! The sun is finally up.
#1 Rainbow Trout caught by Gerry Hill
 Mt McLoughlin
Pelican. Such graceful birds...except when landing
#2 Rainbow Trout caught by yours truly. :) He was a jumper. I squealed just like my mother predicted. I heart fishing!
Beheaded - betailed - gutted. Ready for eating.
 Very pinky meat
Nic cooked the fish. For being such a seafood LOVER, it wasn't my fav fish. Tasted like lake water.
We had such a great time! So, Nic - when are we going again? :)

I've been wanting to do this post for some time. A lot of people don't know what it's like to have your diet lifestyle turned upside down, so I thought I would share: Things I love/learned about having Celiac's Disease:

- Anytime time I've gone out to lunch with my rents, my dad brings me a Diet Mt Dew (Taco Time only has Coke products)
- Sky Lakes Medical Center now has Diet Mt Dew from the tap! With the celestial ice!
- "Saw this and thought of you..." A common phrase from family members when fowarding an e-mail to me regarding GF
- Nic claims he's switched me over to the "dark side" of Diet Mt Dew (I would rather have a dark colored Diet drink ;)
- My family and in-laws do anything to accomodate my eating
- I can still eat Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Peanut Butter Snickers
- When making a packaged GF food (bread, cookie, cake, etc), FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS to a T
- When making a "regular" cookie recipe, you can't easily substitute a GF flour for the all-purpose flour
- GF Rice Krispie Treats taste EXACTLY the same as regular Rice Krispies
- I still crave things I can't eat (AKA Twinkies - on going craving) It's like a pregnancy craving = it never goes away
- The fact that I can't bear my own children easily is a blessing in disguise - I can't pass Celiacs Disease to them. The million dollar question: did I get it from a distant relative?
- Nic is nothing less then amazing. He is always so concerned to make sure I have things to eat at work or when we go out to eat.
- Wheat is in EVERYTHING

This list could go on...and on...and on, but I'm going to stop. It's a good thing I have such an amazing family or else I don't know how I could have gone GF so easily.

As Of LaTe

As of late, I painted a canvas black...ok I did more then that.
I put an inspiring quote on it
 Let's start painting
The finished product - I love how it turned out
Yay
As of late, my mom taught me how to sew! I love it oh so much. I've sewn a skirt, dress and this table runner.
As of late, I would say Harr (pronounced "hair") Bear is settling in. He loves laying on our clothes.
He had a play date with his cousin Dazzle Phair
 They do love play time
As of late, I love my boy's face. Does he not have the cutest face?! Answer: he does.
As of late, I love my other boy more and more. I have 2 amazing boys in my life.
As of late, we went to the park to play
Harr Bear and dad. Yes that's right, I refer to us as his mom and dad.
 Takin' a breather
Such a hard life he has
This is what we've been up to as of late.

HuMbUg PhAiR rEuNiOn

Nic and I headed up the Oregon Coast to Humbug State Park for the Phair Family Reunion (12 adults - 15 kids). Unfortunately 3 of his siblings were unable to make it - they were missed. It was my first reunion and I had a great time with my in-laws!

I highly recommend the West Coast Game Park to anyone who is near Bandon - just south of it.

Staring contest between Craig and the llama...I think the llama won.

Wanderin' around the park

The Cape Blanco lighthouse is the furthest most western point in the United States. This was the first time I've been to a lighthouse.

We said our goodbyes and packed up and headed to Harris Beach for some fishing. I caught 3 fish!...Unfortunately they weren't ones I could keep. But hey! I still caught something. Nic also caught 3 of the same types of fish.

We had a great time. Thank you Phair Family - love you all!

HaRrIsOn PhAiR

We have a new member of our family: Harrison. He's an 8 month old Black Lab, "failed" guide dog. A family in our ward trains guide dogs, and this sweet little guy had a career change. That's seriously what they call it. He failed because he barks about three times a day - three little barks. It's always at some random noise. It doesn't bother us. He's very well trained and we couldn't be happier to have him as part of our family.

 Such a stinkin' cute face!

Now I have 2 handsome boys. :) We love you Harrison - Welcome to the family!

CrAwDaD cOoKoUt

Our ward had a Crawdad Cookout this past weekend. Those buggers swim FAST. They are tasty though. We enjoyed camping, great food and great company. I hope this becomes an annual tradition in our ward.
