Want to know what it's like to be old?

"You should smear dirt on your glasses, stuff cotton in your ears, put on heavy shoes that are too big for you, and wear gloves, and then try to spend the day in a normal way" (Skinner & Vaughan, 1983, p.38). I laughed when I read this (in my behavior modification book). Apparently this is what I get to look forward to as I age. haha

new cut

Loving it!
There is a light at the end of the tunnel and I can see it! :) I just had an appointment with my adviser and I will be done with school in March 2010! It's official - I'm graduating from college! Woo hoo! I'm sure my parents are relieved...and so am I!

Craftiness

Here are a few crafts I have been working on.........#1 Here is my "P" plate. It looks splotchy because it needs another coat of finishing spray. I really like how it turned out. I gave it the antique look by taking a razor blade and taking some paint (look at it close up). I love the yummy brown color. If you want to learn how to do it, go here. It was way cheap and easy to do - my 2 favorite things! #2:I believe Nic's sister (Cherise) made this. This is hanging to the right of our stove and I like to hang the recipe that I'm making for dinner on it. I decided that it need a little something, so I added "whats cooking." Nothing special, but I like how it added a little something extra. #3: If you can't read this, it says "plastic bags." Anytime Nic and I go grocery shopping, we keep our plastic bags. Well I didn't have a nifty bag to put them in, so instead I used this lovely plastic pretzel container. I took off the pretzel label and added my own label. It's nothing special, but now they aren't hanging on our back door, getting in the way and annoying me everytime I open our door. #4: Chalkboard block. Mine isn't very decorative but I love the flower touch. You can learn to make it here. Once again, very easy and cheap. Fun to write the date or leave someone special a little note. Those are some of the crafts I worked on.......

Tay's Blessing

Friday, Nic and I headed to Medford for a youth temple trip. I love the temple! I always feel so calm and peaceful inside those walls. It was wonderful to see the youth of our ward have a desire to attend the temple. We stayed with the in-laws and on Saturday, we headed to Portland for this little girl:Isn't she beautiful? I love her double chin. We met up with Dani and her fam, Ben and his fam, and my rents at OMSI. We then headed to Chuck E Cheese's. This was Nic and I's first experience at this chaotic place. It was absolutely crazy! The kids had a great time playing games, and even Nic and I had fun playing some games. There were so many kids there! We then headed to Ben and Sharon's and stayed there for the night. We ate yummy snickerdoodle cookie dough and watched tv. The next morning we headed back to PLand for Taytum's blessing - the blessing was beautiful. Here's me with the beautiful babe in her beautiful dress (my mom made it). I was getting my practice in. ;) Here is the Harmon family on their wonderful day. We headed to the park for some lunch and fun in the sun. We said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. It was sad to say goodbye to the Harmon family, because they are headed to Boise for good. It was a great weekend and fun to see family on both sides! :)

Ode to Momma Z

This post is for my mom (it's kind of random). Whenever I see alfalfa sprouts in the store, I always think of my mom - she loves them on sandwiches. There's a new recipe that I got here and it calls for alfalfa sprouts. I picked some up at the store - now granted, I'm not a huge fan of sprouts and really have never eaten them. For the past few days, I have been eating these sprouts on my sandwiches/wraps......DELISH! They don't have a strong flavor, but they add a little something. So mom, know that whenever I see or eat sprouts, I think of you. PS If you don't like sprouts, start eating them - you'll like them. They are tasty!

Great Reads

I just finished this book: Looking at the cover, you can guess it has to do with this guy (Aron), climbing/canyoneering, and his right arm. Such an unbelievable, crazy, cool story of survival. It amazed me what Aron endured and did to continue life. I don't want to give away any details, so I highly recommend it...start reading. My next read is about this: The Donner Pass. Confession: I didn't even know what the Donner Pass was or the significance of it until my mom was reading a book about the Donner party who traveled from Missouri to California. Just the thought about what these people had to endure make me cringe. The thought of Truckee Lake even makes me cringe just from what my mom has told me. The Donner Party weren't LDS pioneers; they were people who wanted a better life for themselves. It's amazing the sacrifices people are willing to make so they can have a better life. Both of these books have to do with survival and the sacrifice one is willing to make to survive. Even from yesterday's Gospel Doctrine lesson on the pioneers amazes me. I can't imagine doing what any of these people did - Aron, the Donner Party, LDS pioneers - it puts life into perspective.

favs

1. Nic is always my fav and always #1 on my list
2. Friday Night Lights tv show
3. Yummy delicious snack
+ 4. Delicious drink
These are just a few of my favs right now.
You might have noticed that I have changed my blog background quite a few times in the last couple of hours. Here's why: 1 I'm bored at work 2 I can't find a background that I want to leave up. I keep finding cute ones but not cute enough that I love 3 I'm bored (did I mention that?) Sorry about the blank frame - Nic is going to help me figure out how to put a pic in it. For now, I'm loving my blog. It's simple but still cute.

First time for everything

Our camping trip with Chris and Jocelyn began Friday. We were on our way to Harris Beach. We were driving in the car and this was our attempt at taking a pic - we did end up with a good one but this one is crazy! We set up camp and of course, headed down to the beach. It was really foggy but that didn't stop us. Photo opp with Jocelyn: Foggy scenery at Harris Beach: We came back to watch the sunset. Chris and Jocelyn. We had a yummy dinner and sat around the fire into the night. We woke up on Saturday am with intentions of going beach hopping and instead woke up to rain. We headed to Mattie's for breakfast to see what the weather would do. We came back to our campsite and was greeted by this: 4 inches of standing water. This was the only dry spot in our campsite: Plan B: What the heck do we do? Do we go home? Do we try and find somewhere else to camp? I didn't want to go home. Thankfully we got a full refund back at our campsite. The rest of the forecast for the weekend was rain rain and more rain. So we headed to Crescent City hoping to find different weather at least for the day until we found out what to do. Nic loved flying his kite at this beach because it was so dang windy! Look ma! No hands! We decided to drive around to see if we can find another campground...

Second time was the charm

We did find a campgroud: Six Rivers National Park (or something like that) located near Gasquet. We were able to find one with some tree coverage in case it did rain...again. On Sunday morning we woke up and headed to Crescent City to do some surfing... (I hope Nic doesn't get mad at me for posting this pic.) We actually went to this po dunk aquarium: Ocean World. There was this surf board outside, so I couldn't pass up the picture opportunity. We were able to see Leopard Sharks, sting rays, we even got to pet a shark, and there was a little sea lion show. My fav part were these fish... I guess they were playing dead. There were even some laying on the rocks. Crazy fish. We also got eaten by a Great White Shark... Good times in this little aquarium... There was this awesome beach that we stopped by. This is the perfect pic for the Little Mermaid to appear. Next stop was Trees of Mystery - all about the giant Redwood trees. There were some pretty neat trees. Here is what they call the Family Tree. There are trees growing out of the branches of one tree. Here is the elephant tree with a few elephants on the side. FYI Nic was making elephant noises while taking this pic - I was laughing soo hard! Cathedral Tree - people actually can reserve this area and get married here (notice the altar). Brothers gotta hug at the Brotherhood tree. Chris and Nic were doing some bonding. PS This tree is 19 feet in diameter! We took the Sky Trail to the top: And of course at the end, Nic and I are always still in love. We had a great camping trip with our friends. Hope we can do it again soon!

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. Apparently since drying my pears, I've had nothing to report. That's the excitement in my life = drying pears. Love it. Truly though, not much is happening in our lives: work, working out, and watching movies. School hasn't started for me yet, and I think I'm a little stir crazy. I'm ready for it to start, because that means I'm that much closer to graduating. School starts September 28...forever and a half away! So for now, we'll continue working and working out. I guess I shouldn't complain (not that I was) - we're happy and healthy. We are going on a camping outting starting tomorrow - we are headed to Harris Beach with our friends (Chris and Jocelyn). Pray and hope it doesn't rain for us! Good times!
