TrEe, PaRaDe, & BiG bAnD

Here is what the Phair family has been up to...
We bought a christmas tree...from Fred Meyers. Normally we would travel to the mountains, but this year we went a different route. We even traveled to some tree lots, but Freddies had the best trees.
Here it is fully decorated - there are more presents under the tree now. :)
We headed to the Snowflake Parade. We got some soup to stay warm in the rain. Dang. He's hot!
Yummy broccoli and cheese soup.
I think the theme was something about taking flight - hence the plane. haha
A very colorful, beautifully lit blimp.
Even Lady Liberty made an appearance in little KTown
I love the Bald Eagle
The pelican always has to make an appearance in EVERY parade
December 11 brought the Esquire Jazz Orchestra concert. Such a great yearly show. My mom did such an AMAZING job. Me and the hottie hubs. I'm so lucky. :)
Love my dad
This lovely couple (aka Jason and April) sat next to us.
We have been busy busy busy - welcome to the holidays!

LdS gEmS

A great while ago I used to get quotes from LDS Gems through my e-mail. I was looking through them and I found this quote from Joseph B. Wirthlin that truly is a gem...
"Many today feel troubled and distressed; many feel that, at any moment, the ships of their lives could capsize or sink. It is to you who are looking for a safe harbor that I wish to speak today, you whose hearts are breaking, you who are worried or afraid, you who bear grief or the burdens of sin, you who feel no one is listening to your cries, you whose hearts are pleading, 'Master, carest thou not that I perish?' To you I offer a few words of comfort and of counsel.
Be assured that there is a safe harbor. You can find peace amidst the storms that threaten you. Your Heavenly Father - who knows when even a Sparrow falls - knows of your heartache and suffering. He loves you and wants the best for you. Never doubt this. While He allows all of us to make choices that may not always be for our own or even others' well-being, and while He does not always intervene in the course of events, He has promised the faithful peace even in their trials and tribulations."
There is hope.

GoBbLe GoBbLe...AnD sUcH

I trust your Turkey Day was fabulous. We headed to Meddy to be with Nic's family, but unfortunately I had to drive back on Turkey Day because I had to work on Friday. Boo. It was so worth it though. (There are no pictures from our festivities because I forgot our camera. Oops.)
This past weekend we were able to spend it with my family - my brother and his family were in town. We had a great time with them. We had to break the tradition of getting a Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving because it was too cold and my dad just recently had knee surgery. We spent the day doing this down my parent's driveway:
I'm a daredevil
Penguin style
Putting up the GIANT tree
Decorated. Beautiful finished product.
I forget how much fun sledding is. Their driveway was perfect for the kiddies and even the adults got in on the action. Holidays are the best because it's all about family. :)

OuT oF iT

Wow. It has been awhile since I posted. Ever since I started my job, I'm not up to date in the blogging world or in the FB world. Both Nic and I's jobs keep us busy during the day - still absolutely loving it. By the time we both get home, we relax and watch a movie. It's wonderful. However, I did receive my very first paycheck. Woot!
If you'll notice, I'm wearing my cute little name badge. Allison. Discharge Planner. Nuff said.

LoVe...My JoB

Can I just say that I'm loving my job as a Discharge Planner thus far?!
Monday = orientation (8 am to 4:30 pm - I need to post a pic of me and my new badge).
Tuesday = more orientation and following people on the job.
Wednesday = following people on the job. Woot.
Thursday = following more people. :)
Friday = following more people. Yay.
I love my department. I love the people I work with. I love working at Sky Lakes. I love that I'm still flyin' high on Cloud 9.
Despite the fact that I get up at 6:45 am and am out the door by 7:35 am...I love my job!

SkY lAkEs

You are reading the blog of one of the newest employees of Sky Lakes Medical Center.
That's right - I got a job as a Discharge Planner. I'm so excited! It was quite the wait (well worth it)...A couple of weeks ago I got a call to do an interview for this position. It was one of those interviews where you walk out feeling like they offered you the job on the spot. They didn't offer it to me on the spot, but I felt soo good about it. I was all smiles that day.
They said they would let me know by Sept. 16 - this day had come and gone. The next day I called wondering what the status was. "We'll let you know next week. We still haven't made a decision." Dang it. So I waited for next week to come...
I gave them a few days and called again. Now I'm thinking they have already hired someone else and just didn't call me to let me know. Wrong-o. They are making some changes in the department and wanted those to be squared away. Tuesday (Sept. 28) they will def. let me know.
Sunday was fast Sunday. I prayed and fasted that I would be happy with whatever happens with the hospital job (I had already turned down a job offer at Head Start. Just didn't get a good feeling about it).
Monday I get a call from HR (not the dept. I will be working in). My heart sinks thinking they are calling me that they have gone with someone else. Wrong-o again. I was asked to come in to do a drug screen test and some paperwork. Good news.
A few people told me that the hospital doesn't ask you to come in and do drug screening unless they're offering you the job. I wasn't going to get my hopes up because there still wasn't an official job offer.
Tuesday I headed to Crater Lake with my mom, aunt and uncle. Of course there was no service! When I finally did get service, my phone picks up a voice mail. Of course there's not quite enough service to actually listen to it. Ahh! Once we get home around 3:45, I listen to it. It's from the lady who interviewed me telling me she had good news.........
I call her back immed. and she offered me the job! :) New Employee Orientation is on Monday, Oct. 4. I'm flyin' high on Cloud 9......

MaCkY

My a.m.azing friend, Lauren (aka Macky) came to visit from L.A. Ever since we met in 2005, roomies for 3 years, we've been best friends since.
Thursday. Her plane arrived early, so Nic and I weren't even there to greet her at the airport. Oops!
I even made her a sign to hold when she came through the 1 and only gate at the Klamath Falls airport. Friday. We stayed up until 3 a.m. the night before talking. :) So good to have my bestie in town. We met Nic for lunch at Taco Bell - good memories from the Burg. We did some walking around downtown on Main St. and headed home to work on the food. We of course made Golden Graham Treats. A must. Working on making breadsticks. It was so sticky! It felt like I was making taffy, but they turned out really yummy! So excited! Me and my love. :) Busy making delicious Peasant Pasta. So good. Later that night we headed up to my rents house to go hot tubbing. Back at home to partake of the deliciousness. Saturday. Got FREE hydromassages at a Salon. Isn't Nic so funny? FREE massages. Home to get ready for the RS broadcast. A girl I know asked me: "Who died"? Don't be hatin' on the all black look. We then went to my parents house for dinner. My parents had to see Lauren, because who wouldn't want to see her? She's the best. Sunday. Lauren headed to Primary with me. True friend. haha Relaxed, ate food and watched movies until she had to head home. :( You know something is good because you are always left wanting more. I did not want to see her go. It was so fun having her come visit us. We haven't seen each other in a year! Too long. If I had a $$$ tree, I would go see her a lot more. Thank you Macky for the good memories...as always! Love you bestie!

M.o.M.

For those of you who didn't know, when I call my mom "mom" it really mean Mother Of the Millenium. True to the nth degree. Here is my M.O.M.
Isn't she beautiful? Always has been and always will be.
Ok, so this post isn't to brag about my mom...ok maybe a little bit. Tomorrow (9.25.10) my mom and her good friend (April Appah) are doing a triathlon. Can I just say how proud I am of my mom? What an amazing accomplishment for her! She has worked her bum off for this (biking, running, and swimming). She never ceases to amaze me.
Mom. You're amazing. I know you're reading this and you're probably thinking to yourself, "Oh Alli. You're just saying that because you're my daughter." I am just saying it, but not because I'm your daughter. Good luck tomorrow mom! Love you!

TiFf TiFf

Remember back when I was on the OIT Dance Team? I met an amazing girl, who actually lived down the street from us when we lived in our duplex on Holabird. We became great friends right away. Tiffany.
(This is a pic when we were on our way to a performance)
Such an amazing girl. Sadly though she moved back home (Salem, OR area) around March. Fortunately for us, she came to visit on Saturday, Sunday and part of Monday. :) It was so good to see her. I just absolutely love her. I still wish she lived in KTown and attended OIT, but our good times had to come to an end. Just like that she was gone again.
I'm really glad I met Tiff Tiff and that she came down for a few days.

NeW

This is our not-so-new, new dining room table:
My parents graciously asked us if we wanted their old dining room table...um heck yes! There are 2 additional chairs and a couple more leafs. :) We absolutely love the way it looks in our dining room. So if anyone is looking for a new 4 chair dining room table, we have one for sale!

BaSkEtBaLl

I am going to brag for a little bit right now about Nic/Neeko.
I am so proud of Neeko. He plays basketball 5 times a week: 5:30 am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and then in the pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. He has such dedication to get up at the but-crack-of-dawn and then to play at the night. He works so hard and always comes home a sweaty mess. :) Because he plays so hard, he needed new bball shoes...bad. He found these bad boys at Amazon for a steal!
Smashing shoes
I just wanted to say how proud I am of Neeko for how hard he works not only at his job and calling but also during basketball. He's dedicated and plays his bum off every time! It also doesn't hurt that he's a great player.
Love you Neeko!

FrAnKaThA's WeDdInG

Me and my friend, Chelsea headed to San Diego for our friend's (Tabatha) wedding. We left Thursday, August 26. Our flight left an hour late out of Klamath. Me and Chelsea waiting...
Finally on the plane to San Francisco
By the time we got to SF, we missed our connecting flight to San Diego. We waited for 6 hours! Good thing we know how to have fun. We were on the standby for a few flights and finally made it on! Yay for our boarding passes! :)
In beautiful CA. We rented a Nissan Versa.
Chelsea and me ready for a night on the town...or out to dinner
I want these sunglasses.
Chelsea, Robert, Kelda and me headed to dinner at Chijli's. Kelda and me. So good.
Friday morning we headed over to Bert's (Tabatha's bro) house to help with the set up of the rehearsal dinner and finish making the ring ceremony programs.
Chelsea, Kelda and I headed to the beach to catch some rays...not so much. The sun decided to hide behind all of the clouds. My cute new suit I bought. Love it!
At the beach! Kelda, Chelsea and me. Chelsea and I got in the water...brrr! I thought California beaches were supposed to be warm. Not so much! Let's just say there was a lot of girly screaming and running away from the waves - we did get in eventually.
The beach we hung out at. The water might have been cold but we still managed to have have tons of fun.
It was then off to a rehearsal dinner and the bachelorette party. Tabatha got all of her bridesmaids super cute gifts. We all got t-shirts that said this on the front and then on the back it was "Bridesmaid (last name)." Such a cute idea.
First stop was pedicures at a cosmetology school. Allanah and me. She was my pedicure-ist. Such a sweet girl and she did an awesome job. I got a french tip, except it was a black tip instead. Fabulous.
At the Melting Pot for dessert fondue. Yummy. It's next to the Hyatt in downtown San Diego. Dessert and bachelorette gifts. :)
All of the bridesmaids. Such a FUN night. Finally left at about 12:30 am.
Saturday morning. Chelsea and me headed to the temple for a session and the sealing. So amazing. We both felt the spirit so strong. :) Such a neat experience to be in the temple with Tabatha.
While waiting for the couple to come out of the temple, might was well take some pics (me, Chelsea and Allanah). I know Allanah from junior high. I haven't seen her since I was a freshman in college (2001). So great to see her. She gets married in January!
Back of the temple. So pretty. There was scaffolding on the front of the temple but it doesn't matter what the box looks like. What matters is what's inside the box (the pearl). Great story told by the temple president who sealed Tabatha and Frank.
It's official! They're married (Frank and Tabatha)!
Back to the resort to set up for the ring ceremony - beautiful ceremony. I sang a song by Sarah Evans. Photo time - me and Allanah jumping!
Allanah, me and Chelsea after the ring ceremony
At the reception. The bride and groom - they look so happy :)
Allanah and me at the reception - we missed our men folk during the dancing portion. There was great food, fun dancing, the boquet toss, the garter toss, first dances, toasts, and fun.
Chelsea, Robert, Kelda and Me going for a walk on the beach late at night - long day of wedding fesitivities.
Hole on the beach = great photo opp. Me and Chelsea.
Early morning at the San Diego airport - we were both ready to go home to our families
What a great time I had in San Diego. I was so grateful to be a part of this wonderful time in Tabatha and Frank's life. So happy for the two of them!
