RuInEd?

Ever since I went GF, I have been craving one of these guys:
The Twinkie. This craving WILL NOT go away.

I was talking with a nurse today about GF foods and told her of my craving of this delicious, moist, golden, cream filled treat (I could be on an advertisement). What does this nurse say to me about Twinkies? "You don't want to eat them anyway. They're toxic and you slowly kill yourself when you eat them." I don't want to know this!

What do you think happened to my craving after this lovely conversation?..............................Nothing - I'm still craving a Twinkie.

This is what I learned about today at work:

The Burning Man. Have you ever heard about this? I honestly could not tell you how this subject came to be between me and the other case managers, but it did. "You're sheltered" is what one of the nurses told me because I had NO CLUE what the Burning Man is. After discussing the Burning Man for a good majority of the day, I now know. I guess it's true what they say: you learn something new everyday.

nO pAiN, nO gAiN?

We're all familiar with the phrase "No pain, no gain." I'm here to tell you, you don't gain anything with pain. It's not worth fighting. Side note: I'm not writing this post to complain. For the past few months, I've been experiencing on again, off again lower back pain. Always in the same spot - right on my spine. Whoo eee! It did not feel good. Recently it has taken on the more constant approach. I decided to do something about it (remember my abdominal pain?). Once again, Nic was right. My mom was right. Everyone was right. This isn't normal and it makes life just plain difficult. I started seeing a chiropractor, which...isn't helping. I'll still give him a chance, but I did schedule an appointment with an orthopedic doctor. It makes me nervous just thinking about it, because I'm really hoping nothing serious is wrong. It's probably just me being a "worry wart," worst case scenario girl. I'd rather have it checked out to give me peace of mind. So really, I don't know what the heck is going on. Just remember that in instances like this, you don't gain anything by sticking with the pain.

In other news...I'M TEACHING A DANCE CLASS! Dang am I excited. I was asked to teach a pre-tap class at the same studio I taught awhile back. I am so excited to be teaching one of my favorite dances: tap. I love it and can't wait to teach the little ones. I'm nervous about this too. It has worked out with my hospital job. The class is on Tuesdays 3:30-5. The class is a pre-ballet/pre-tap class. I asked my boss if I could do this and she said as long as I work my 8 hours: in to work at 6:30 and off at 3 with a 30 minute lunch - sounds perfect.

TuLeLaKe FaIr

This past weekend we headed to the Tulelake Fair with my rents and my brother's (Ben) family. My nephews went on rides while we watched and played games. Here are my adorable, wonderful rents (drinks always in hands):
 Me and the love
My dad and Calvin (he would not look at the camera)
Shaving a sheep. When they do this, they put the sheep in a position that pinches  a nerve in their back to temporarily "paralyze" the sheep. The sheep can still move and it doesn't hurt them. Crazy.
 Cows have such cute faces
Love the color of this one
"Baby" cow - not so small like a baby
Who knew you could ride a cow?!
Hope no one is looking for their foot...
 Robin Hoof (Cow in tights)
 I love him
The winning ping pong ball. Nic won us a gold fish...that died a few days later!
Nic won the snake and teddy bear (in his pocket) for Harrison
We had a great time at the fair. It was great seeing the Stewart family as well.

AdOpTiOn???

I don't know if any of you are wondering about how the adoption process is going or maybe none of you are. I thought I would give an update...

At the beginning of the Summer, Nic and I both got the feeling that we needed to not proceed with adoption. After everything we've been through since July 2010, our emotions needed a rest. Adoption isn't going to be a picnic. We told our case manager that we would notify him when we wanted to proceed. Nic and I decided to re-evaluate at the end of the Summer.

It's now September and we discussed things again and have still decided not to proceed right now. On one hand it's hard for us not to proceed because we want children, but on the other hand we know it's the right thing. We want our marriage and ourselves to be the best they can be. If our emotions aren't stable, then adoption is going to be a longer and tougher journey then it needs to be.

It has been a tough journey already, but we are so happy right now. I personally feel that our marriage is stronger because of it. I'm going to be honest - having Harrison around has helped me deal with my emotions. It's fun to be able to take care of something with Nic. I'm sure that sounds wierd, but he has helped keep me focused on other things. Don't get me wrong - sometimes my emotions get the best of me. I'm grateful that Nic and I have the unique opportunity to adopt - we can prolong the experience for our parents to have grandbabies around. :) We won't be "popping" kids out one after the other. It's been a well worth it journey and I'm grateful I get to have my best friend by my side.

When I first found out that I had Celiac's Disease, I kept reading about how you shouldn't use any wheat products (skin care, etc). I thought to myself, "Really? Come on. How bad can it be?" I checked all of my facial products just to be sure.

Fast forward to...NOW. Here I am with my sweet little boy (AKA Harrison). He's a dog, so naturally he licks me. I couldn't figure out why I always itched and broke out into bumps. What in the world? It finally dawned on me to read the ingredients on Harrison's dog food? Lo and behold: WHEAT.

Moral of the story: Don't put wheat on my skin. No skin products with wheat. No dog licks.....Did you know they make GF dog food?

*We did not buy GF dog food.
