She Wolfs
As most of you know, Friday and Saturday were our first dance team performances. They went really well...I had to sing the national anthem both days (also went well). For our team, my friend Tiffany and I made "shoes" for each of the girls.........
We put the girl's name and then a quote about dance. They turned out really cute and the girls really appreciated them. Mine is hanging on my fridge. :)
This is me and Tiffany before we headed over to Hayley's house to get ready. She and I have become really good friends. :)
Me, Marie, Savannah, and Hayley (now you all know what my dance team captain looks like) - getting ready. These are the t-shirts that we wore: Save the Hooters. It's to support mammography.
After Tiffany and I beautified ourselves - I did her hair and got her hooked on the 3-barrel (what I did to our hair).
The performing team before we dance. Top row: Mackenzie, Savannah, Nicole, Jessica, and me. Bottom row: Kasia, Hayley, Marie, and Tiffany.
While OIT was warming up before the game, we were just out there giving the audience a little preview. Ok not really, we just kept beat to the music. Step together and what not. Nothing too special...
The performances went well both nights. Lucky for me, all of my sisters and Nic came and watched on Saturday. My parents came on Friday night and then my mom came again on Saturday. Thank you again for coming! It was so much fun to perform. We got a lot of student and crowd support - I think they really liked it. The dance team kind of has a stigma attached to it thanks to last year, but we are changing it this year. :) I will try and get the video posted so you can see our dance.......

I'm so excited for tonight!
Tonight is our first dance team performance! Woo hoo!
Seriously so excited.
We are meeting at Hayley's house at 4 for hair and make-up...game starts at 7:30...halftime show brings the She Wolfs! :)
I will have to take lots of pictures.
Sadly Nic won't be there - he'll be at a wedding in Medford. He will be there for tomorrow's games.
Yay.

Take Luck!
Last night were try-outs for the performing dance team for this weekend...I MADE IT! I wasn't all that worried about it, but you never know. We were split up into groups of 3 or 4...performed the dance twice for the 3 judges...Hailee called us one by one after every one had tried out...told us whether or not we were performing...
She was really complimentary of my dancing. The judges love my smile and want to see more of it. I always feel awkward when I smile when I dance - that's what the people want though. Hailee also said that she has seen me improve so much already - she loves having me on the team - can't wait for this season - she says I'm a strong and powerful dancer and wants to see more of that - just really complimentary overall.
There you have it...I'm dancing on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the guys basketball games. :) I have practice every night this week to hammer out formations and roll offs. Yay. I don't know if I mentioned this or not, but our tops won't be here for this weekend. Dumb dumbs. The company didn't have enough material to make all of the tops, so on to plan B. Oh and well. I can't wait to perform this weekend! :)

Missionary Moment
I never would have thought that the dance team would give me different opportunities to stand up for what I believe...
Last night after our practice, the team headed over to Hailee's house for dinner, games, and chit chat. It was so much fun! Dinner was delish. The game we played was a 'get to know you' game (draw a question out of the bowl and answer it). It was fun to get to know the girls a little bit better. Girls loved asking me about being married, having kids, etc...After the game was done, some girls left and the rest of us were just sitting around talking and laughing it up. Somehow the topic got onto marriage. I made a statement how in the church you don't have to pay for a place to get married and that's when it began...For the next 10 - 15 minutes, the girls just kept asking me all of these questions about the church: the 3 degrees of glory, Word of Wisdom, pre-Earth life, how the church is run, prophets, scriptures, revelation, the Godhead, temples, baptism, etc...
It was so fun to sit and talk with them about the church - I didn't feel judged at all. They were just curious and wanted to know more. I let them know that there is tons of false doctrine about the church and that if they have questions, just ask me. I'm more then happy to talk about it. There was a girl who's Catholic and a girl who used to be a Jehovah's Witness (now a Christian). It was interesting to talk to them about what they believe in. I just loved how they just wanted to know more.
I'm so grateful for the opportunities the dance team has given me to stand up for what I believe in and who knows what other opportunities await me. Thank you dance team for giving me a change to share with you what I believe in.

I found this adorable ribbon tree in Michael's that I am going to make...sooner or later. What a cute decoration for the upcoming holidays!
Finished!
I thought I would give you a dance team update.......We finished the dance last night! Woo hoo! It's a fun dance that's about 2 1/2 mintutes. We perform on the 20 and 21 of November - 4 times (girls and guys basketball games both nights). Try outs are in less than a week...ahh! I forgot to write about the ending of my dance team outfit story...
I left the story off at that Hailee was going to let me and some other girls wear something else. Fast forward a week or so...I go into the dance store (Zebra Butterfly) to get sized for shoes and pants. I told the lady (Alice) that I talked with Hailee about wearing something else. I sat with Alice for about 30 min looking through every dance catalog she had and could NOT find a different alternative. I left with the idea in mind thinking I would wear a form fitting white t-shirt underneath and be fine being the only one wearing it...Days passed...I started getting a little frustrated.....My mother found a t-shirt that I could wear. The same day my mom found the shirt, a girl from the dance team (Tiffany) came over showing me the new tops Hailee had picked out for us to wear. ADORABLE! They are short sleeve, royal blue, sequency flowy tops. They are so cute!
I was thinking about it and thinking about my thought processes throughout. I'm really glad I said something. I'm not trying to pat myself on the back, but I'm glad that I didn't lower my standards even if it was just for the games. There are people in my ward that go to OIT games and would see me dancing. If I was dancing in a halter, I know I wouldn't feel good about it. I would also feel bad because what a poor example I would have been?! What about my YCL's from Girl's Camp? What about the little kids in my primary? I know they don't all go to the games, but still...I would regret not having said anything. I'm also grateful that Hailee changed the tops completely. I have never asked her specifically why but I should thank her for her decision. I think girls overall will feel more comfortable dancing in these different tops.
Yay! That's all I have to say.

HaLlOwEeN 09
This year's Halloween started off with a trip to Goodwill for our costumes. Original idea: me as an 80's girl and Nic as a cowboy. That plan failed and we found this great hat for Nic for $.49! He ended up as a...
Scarecrow. He even asked me to do his make-up for him! If I do recall, his words were something like "I can't believe I'm even asking this, but will you do my make-up for me?" Priceless. My 80's outfit wasn't quite coming together so at Wal-Mart I found a kid's cat costume (ears, bowtie and tail). Black cat it is. Nic was cooking his Chicken Chili for our ward party. Now you get the idea of our full costumes...
We had a yummy chili dinner and dessert. Nic made Road Kill Chili (aka Chicken Chili). It turned out really well and then we had a trunk - or - treat. Here's our trunk all Halloweened out.
Those are skeleton lights - great investment we made for the years to come. After our party, we went to Freddies and got Halloween decorations - they were on sale. Woo hoo! We had a Happy Halloween!
